Oh Daisy these pics are gorgeous!! :Bravo: your new fids I cant keep my eyes off of them... :bunny: the little girl looks as if she could be younger, I see what you mean..her plumage just isnt as tight as the others & she looks downy in spots as well..
thing is im not expert, I dont have kaks (I WANT THEM THO) lol but I think it would be a safer bet for George or Debbie to answer this one..

Birds..unless banded with the hatch yr on it..theres just no way of knowing..

Awwwh, Daisy, they are beautiful! I have a real soft spot for the yellow's (I have four!) and your's has just made me go all gooey and pathetic! :lol1: They just can't fail to make you smile when they look so bright and cheery!

I wouldn't be too worried about your green hen, as Laurie says, it's near impossible to tell ages of birds unless they have rings. She looks to me like she's just going through a moult. Her tail feathers are very short where they are regrowing. Kaks get very downy looking when they moult, and it can make them look like they have fluffy baby feathers. Still, if she is a young bird, as long as she's fully capable of feeding herself, that's a plus for you because you'll get to have her for longer! So many people sell off their older breeding birds to pet shops... I keep finches and canaries too and the real old ones get scaly rough looking legs. The amount of them I see in the pet shops here and the pet shop workers are like, oh they're only a few months old.. it winds me up so much because a lot of people would never know and it's also sad that these poor unwanted birds just get shipped off to the pet shops when they're no use to the breeders anymore. :cry2: Unfortunately, the scaly leg thing doesn't seem to apply to parrot types so you can't ever know with them really.

Hey Daisy!! Those pictures are just adorable - I bet you've been playing with those babes all day!!! I dont think Little Gem is young - the females always look soooo scruffy when hey moult, they use most of their energy making sure their husbirds look handsome lol I'm sure with a few baths, some lovely fruit and veg, plenty of TLC and maybe some eggfood - she will look better in no time at all :heart_fill_with_lov

Thanks for all your coments .....making me feel all proud of my babies hearthug

wolverine....... try not opening the cage lol..... if you shove the camera lense right up against the cage you can avoide the bars if the camera lense isnt too big..... or ...... theres doors for the feed cups in my cage which gives you more room if your using an SLR or somrthing with fatter lense........

Im not worried about Little Gem......but she is quite a lot smaller than the others....shes eating loads tho..... standing up for herself.......... shes really agile ......but not very co-ordinated flying/landing ...... they have a seed mix i mix up myself and millet and fresh fruit n veg..............i also empty the seed bowls onto the shavings in the bottom of the cage cuz they love to scratch about so there is pleanty to eat. Just the girl at the place we got them said she had only come in the day before from the same breeder as some of the others that she told me were 6 months old.......... Gillbert has a ring but not been able to read it yet...hes so fast lol... but the other 2 dont..

they are dead lively this am ................ and very chatty ..... i think rosey is getting a little more used to them ...... not sitting at top of cage giving them looks quite so much lol
